In 1963, several Greek travel agents thought joining forces and creating a sightseeing operator was a good idea. The main idea was to create a sightseeing operator responsible for organising sightseeing trips and cruises. They launched Keytours.gr and have been organising excursions for Greek and foreign tour operators. Initially, their head office was in Athen’s main Syntagma Square, but in 1991 they moved to a more spacious terminal office building directly opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Up to date, the company is still owned by some of the initial founders, who are owners of major Greek travel agencies. Since its establishment, Key Tours has been the exclusive supplier of sightseeing tours to Carlson Wagonlit Travel and American Express International.
The company serves over 60,000 visitors annually, through organising 20 scheduled tours and excursions on a tailor-made basis. They have distributed tours through 500 contracted agents and work with 100 hotel front desks. Key Tours operates 7 days a week, 16 hours a day and the staff is very friendly. They also operate a modern reservation system that allows clients to view availability and make bookings online on the state-of-the-art website.
